Awake Beam

An inspection rehearsal, not a filing cabinet

Find out what a CQC inspector will find. Before the inspector does.

You already hold the evidence. Awake Beam reads it — your policies, care plans, rotas, training matrices, audits — against the framework your service will actually be assessed under.

Then it tells you, in your own words and quoting your own files, exactly where an inspector will push.

A stack of printed care-home paperwork — a staff rota, a training matrix, a policy page — with a diagonal beam of light crossing a few lines.
The evidence that decides your rating is already in the building. It has just never been read back to you.

01/The problem

There are three ways to find out how you will be judged. All of them are bad.

A rating is your licence to trade. “Requires improvement” freezes local-authority placements and frightens families. Yet almost nothing tells you where you stand until the judgement lands.

  • A consultant's mock inspection

    £3,000+ plus VAT

Weeks to book, needs a site visit, and gives you one snapshot you cannot re-run after you have fixed things.

  • A compliance subscription

    Annual contract, per seat

A good place to store evidence. It assumes you already know what to collect, and it never tells you whether it is good enough.

  • A free checklist and your weekend

    £0

It asks whether you have a safeguarding policy. It cannot read the one you have.

  • A Rehearsal

    £599 plus VAT, once

Same day, no site visit, no contract. Re-run it free within 90 days to prove you closed the gaps.

The real incumbent is the weekend. Most single-site providers never buy anything at all.

02/What changed

Your evidence is filed against something that is being retired.

CQC is replacing the Single Assessment Framework. Every provider in England has spent two years filing evidence against quality statements that are due to stop existing. As set out by the regulator, the shape of the change is this:

  • 34 quality statementsroughly 24 key lines of enquiry
  • Evidence-category scoresrating judgements at key-question level
  • One framework for everyonefour sector-specific frameworks

Implementation is expected at the end of 2026. Consultants are booked out remapping folders by hand at day rates. A registered manager with one home and no compliance department cannot buy that.

Awake Beam remaps your evidence to the framework that replaces them, and prints on the cover which framework version it read you against.

03/What it says

A gap is not a category. It is two of your files disagreeing.

This is what one line of enquiry looks like when it comes back. Every finding carries the sentence it came from, and the file it came from.

How do leaders assure themselves that medicines are managed safely?

Finding

All staff administering medicines complete NICE-aligned training annually.

Finding

3 of 11 care staff have no medicines competency recorded since March 2024.

Gapranked 1 of 12 · an inspector reaches here first

Your medicines policy cites the 2019 NICE guidance. Your last medicines audit, dated 4 June 2026, cites the 2023 update. An inspector reading both will ask which one your staff were trained against.

04/How it works

No account, no password, no card until the last step.

A mock inspection is mostly document work wearing a car journey. Take the car journey out and what is left can happen this afternoon.

  1. 1.0

    Tell us about the service

Type, roughly how many people you support, when you were last inspected. Three questions, all with defaults. No service name needed.

  2. 2.0

    Send what you already have

Audits, safeguarding and medicines policies, the training matrix, supervision records, a redacted care plan, the last inspection report. Three files is enough to start.

  3. 3.0

    Watch us read

Lines of enquiry appear as they are assessed, and beneath each one, sentences lifted from your own files with the file name beside them. You can close the tab.

  4. 4.0

    Read the verdict

Well-led comes back complete and free, with the other four key questions showing a true gap count. The full Rehearsal is £599 per service, plus VAT.

Send anonymised evidence. If we spot a resident’s name we redact it before reading, and we delete your evidence after 90 days.

05/Principles

What we will never do.

No score out of 100

A number would be a guess dressed as a judgement. We state the position your evidence supports, at key-question level, the way the regulator states it.

No subscription, no seats

You buy a Rehearsal once. There is no annual contract, no implementation, and nothing to cancel.

No badge, no green tick

Readiness is not a state you own. We will never show you a dashboard implying that it is.

No countdown, no scare banner

The stakes are already real. Inflating them would make us the thing we are protecting you from.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for the Care Quality Commission. We quote its framework. We do not represent it, and we never promise a rating.

06 / Start

Rehearse one key question on your own evidence, free.

Well-led comes back complete, quoting your files, at no cost and with no card. If it is useful, the full Rehearsal is £599 per service, plus VAT.

Or send it to the manager who needs it more than you do.

Nothing is collected. The link is all this button does.
